Resumo

This study aimed to verify the concepts of "blended learning" and "semi-distance education" in the pre-pandemic period of COVID-19 and during the pandemic, through the analysis of theses and dissertations published until 2020, in addition to scientific articles and journalistic texts from 2020 that contained either term. It was found that, before the pandemic, blended learning and semi-distance education were treated in a similar way by academic works, being sometimes differentiated by broader definitions of blended learning, involving a mixture of different pedagogical approaches, while the semi-distance education referred to the places where the activities took place. It was noted, by scientific articles and journalistic texts during the pandemic, that these few differences were not mentioned in most of these texts, indicating that these terms were possibly reinterpreted during the COVID-19 pandemic
