Forms and effects of violence in Latin American literature and cinema
The sonority of human’s conflicts, no doubt, are part of XX and XXI centuries, whether because of world wars, liberation struggles, the need to build democratic states or to question the authoritarianism of states governed by the rule of Law. Literary production and cinema play a decisive role in both memory policy and confrontation with memory. Discussing violence, in the midst of the exception gains importance, as there is no conflict without violence. And we need to reflect on the form and effect of violence on the societies that produce and suffer from it. With this in mind, we propose the following dossier: "Forms and effects of violence on Latin American literature and cinema". An opportunity to receive texts that reverberate on their pages the inks of intense concern about the effects, not at all aesthetic, of this violence in Latin America. Studies proposing new concepts or categories and/or seeking to discuss epistemological issues and theoretical-methodological approaches related to the representations of different forms of violence in Latin America are also very welcome.
