The objective of the research was to evaluate the perception of Bachelor's students in Biological Sciences regarding their participation in an in-person summer course on modern board games in Science Education, held in July 2023. To achieve this, initial and final questionnaires were administered; participant observation was conducted, and the assessment of didactic sequences designed for science teaching was carried out, including the use of modern board games. The data were analyzed using categorical content analysis based on Laurence Bardin’s methodology. The results indicated that the practice of playing, the discussions about applicability, and the historical, theoretical, and philosophical explanations regarding the use of games in science teaching are positive aspects of the course. Additionally, the scarcity of disciplines and courses that explore the use of modern board games in initial teacher training was highlighted. As a means of improvement, suggestions included extending the duration of the course, incorporating approaches for game creation, and deepening the philosophical foundations that underpin this pedagogical practice.
