In view of the historical genocide and ethnocide of indigenous peoples in the city of São Paulo, this work aims to establish respect for the worldviews of the city's indigenous peoples through a discussion on the quality of care provided by the SUAS. For a SUAS without racism! The 2024 Jaraguá Indigenous Census records the presence of the indigenous population of the Jaraguá Territory, recognizing the particularities of the peoples and bringing to light their different realities in the face of urbanity for the debate on public policies. Paying attention to the demographic phenomenon as a way of promoting the indigenous presence in the city in the fight against the erasure of their territoriality and memory, caused by institutional violence in the systematization of data using methodologies that do not consider the epistemological nature of kinship and reciprocity dynamics. The appreciation of the plurality of ideas and sociocultural multiplicity should be the initial basis for carrying out work, research, and care for indigenous peoples. Highlighting collaboration with indigenous leaders and communities, we enable grassroots coordination and an interlocutory agenda that has social forms, specific procedures, and local memories that should directly influence the methodological repertoire in the documentation and actions of civil servants in indigenous territories and communities. This work strengthens the ethnographic basis of participant observation as a method of active and sensitive listening, respecting indigenous protagonism and promoting the centrality of their memories.
