The work presents part of a master's thesis that proposes the use of new technologies, such as the smartphone and the cyberspace of the social network, Instagram. A scavenger hunt was developed with 2nd grade high school students, as a pedagogical intervention during some botany classes. The research problem that the work sought to answer was how the student, digital native, perceives the use of mobile devices in the teaching process in botany classes. The research methodology developed was qualitative, in a discussion group, students were heard regarding the use of smartphones in teaching botany. The challenges of the scavenger hunt were presented as results of this research in the light of content analysis, which showed how students position themselves positively regarding the use of mobile devices in teaching botany. Furthermore, the challenges of the scavenger hunt helped students to realize other ways that botany content is developed and that a game can be serious and at the same time fun and engaging.
