Exported architecture, represented by structures erected outside their country of origin, becomes a tangible manifestation of a nation's identity and cultural values, exerting what is called soft power through its aesthetic appeal and symbolic significance. In Latin America, the presence of these soft power monuments, exemplified here by contemporary art museums, not only transform urban landscapes, but also influence social dynamics and the legitimization processes of art systems. The expansion of the Centre Pompidou and other international museums to locations such as the Triple Frontier in Brazil illustrates this trend, which goes hand in hand with the claims for public space as a place of resistance and decolonization that are emerging today, illustrated by the actions of iconoclastic movements in 21st century Latin America. This article explores how these monuments shape perceptions and help reproduce social inequalities by contrasting them with contemporary cultural policies in the region.
