Ethics and Misconduct and Retraction Policy

Espirales Journal is committed to ethics in scientific production and publication, in observance with the principles of good practices recognized by the international scientific community. It therefore conditions its editorial practices to the Core Practices (2017), COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and the Principles of Transparency and Good Practices in Academic Publication (2022), established by COPE, DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), OASPA (Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association) and WAME (World Association of Medical Editors).

To this end, Espirales adopts different instruments of regulation and control to ensure that no work that has been prepared under conditions of misconduct is published and endorsed in this journal, this includes requiring from the authors the full availability of data and information used in their research and the necessary authorizations, in the case of publications of interviews, essays and articles whose research has been carried out with human beings. Moreover, it vetoes any form of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, manipulation and/or fabrication of data, false authorship, deviation from the peer review process, among other practices that fall under the list of misconduct. 

Espirales encourages those who identify or are aware of unethical conduct related to the works published herein to contact the Editorial Team of the journal through the email revista.espirales@unila.edu.br, and undertakes to investigate all complaints rigorously and with maximum confidentiality. 

Errata and Corrections

Espirales provides for the publication of Errata and Corrections when necessary, that is, when errors are identified that compromise the validity of the published work. The erratum will be prepared and published in accordance with the recommendations of SciELO. The author who identifies such errors should immediately contact the Editorial Team of the journal. The request for an erratum or addendum must be made through this form. If you have any questions, please contact the Editorial Team at revista.espirales@unila.edu.br

Errata of exclusion of part of the text and/or addendum will be published in cases where it is recognized that the errors indicated are honest and do not affect the argumentative or scientific structure of the text. 

Effective corrections will be made to published articles when the following data are not correct: article DOI; Author name; Corresponding author data; Authorship contribution information; Document section; Article title; Author affiliation at the time of publication of the article; Abstract (complete); Keywords; Promotion institution and contract or process number; Funding institution; Citation; Reference; Bibliographic legend (journal title, volume, number or special number, volume supplement, periodicity, year, pagination, elocation-id); Article history dates.

Retraction

Finally, Espirales reserves the right to retract articles that do not meet recognized ethical and scientific standards, and may partially or totally retract a text, depending on the reasons for the retraction. The journal subscribes to its conduct of retraction to the guidelines indicated by SciELO and to the Retraction Guidelines, prepared by COPE.
