Abstract

In this paper we analyze the coverage of teleSUR on the diplomatic rapprochement between the United States and Cuba, from the visit of Barack Obama to Cuba on March 20, 2016. The corpus is composed of 17 reports that cover the preparation of the visit to its repercussions. Coverage analysis was done according to the French Discourse Analysis. The dynamics of action between the two countries is reviewed from Putnam's theory of two-level games. We conclude that the broadcaster established two journalistic-discursive strategies to treat Obama's visit as a victory for the Cuban revolution and a failure of the US embargo.
