THE POLITICAL REPRESENTATION IN POPULISM ACCORDING TO ERNESTO LACLAU'S THEORY OF HEGEMONY
Keywords:
representation, populism, political identity, hegemony, antagonismAbstract
The following paper reflects on the notion of representation in populism, using Ernesto Laclau's theory of hegemony as a backdrop. The article aims to show how and why the analysis of populism allows us to think of political representation beyond the ideas of authorization or autonomization, instead as the creation of political will. In other words, he allows us to think of political representation in relation to the creation of bonds of identification that tend to promote and establish political identities. According to this author, both the identity of the represented and that of the representative would be forged in the very act of representation.
