This article presents the figure of the soldaderas to reflect on the aesthetics of the Mexican Revolution through female translations, which span multiple layers of culture over time: from discourses on their domestic roles in the Revolution to their conditions of emancipation. When popularized as Adelitas, they were transformed into beautiful idyllic images, in which femininity is exaggerated and any trace of aggression must be hidden and erased. The aesthetics in the representations of the soldaderas can be thought of as a political and decolonizing tool, especially in the reversal of female gender expectations. The research is developed from the point of view of the decolonial aesthesis proposed by Mignolo (2010), in a philosophy of art, which does not analyze images, but investigates some instances of gender representations in the revolutionary imaginary since Maria Lugones (2008) in her approach as decolonial feminism.
