Abstract

Volume 9 (2025) of Revista Espirales (ISSN 2594-9721) consolidates its editorial reconfiguration with the adoption of continuous publication and a commitment to Open Science. This issue brings together multidisciplinary studies analyzing Latin American and Caribbean integration from various perspectives: the geopolitics of regional autonomy amid the China-US dispute; civilian control of security forces; and resistance to platform capitalism. Paulo Freire's legacy serves as the central axis for dialogues on emancipatory education in higher education, the prison system, agroecology, and social education. The volume also addresses health governance, economic dependence in Haiti, the political diversity of the evangelical electorate, the precarity of domestic work, and Quilombola resistance. Through lenses including decolonial praxis, feminism, and the critique of modernity, the articles discuss topics ranging from aesthetic gender disobedience to the history of colonial barbarism, reaffirming the journal's role as a space for insurgent thought and social transformation across the continent.
