Open Science Compliance
Espirales conducts its practices in accordance with the principles of Open Science, which understands scientific knowledge as a common good, a tool for citizenship and democracy.
Consequently, this journal adopts the Open Access model, as dictated by the BOAI (Budapest Open Access Initiative), making available, free of charge, all the numbers published through its publication in digital media. Besides that, the Creative Commons CC-BY license fully guarantees the copyright to the authors, so that they reproduce, share and disseminate their texts in any media, provided that they are properly referenced. These characteristics make Espirales a Diamond Open Access journal.
Based on the guidelines of open science and the FAIR Principles (findable, accessible, interoperability and reusable), Espirales requests that the authors complete the Open Science Compliance Form and consider:
- It is necessary to inform if the submitted manuscript is a preprint, indicating the reliable repository where it is available (e.g. SciELO Preprints, Zenodo, EmeRI, Advance – SAGE Pub and OSFPreprints – Center of Open Science);
- Making available the contents underlying the manuscripts, such as data, program codes and others, in order to disseminate and reference the material that supported the research. It is suggested to use the repositories recommended by SciELO;
- Explaining whether or not they accept the opening of the peer review process.
