Preprints Policy

Espirales receives manuscripts in continuous flow, whether articles, reviews, essays or interviews, and publishes one volume per year in continuous publication mode. It also accepts preprints deposited in institutional repositories or on trusted preprint servers (such as SciELO Preprints, Zenodo, EmeRI, Advance – SAGE Pub and OSFPreprints – Center of Open Science).

Preprints consist of manuscripts that have not yet been evaluated by reviewers and that have been made available for open access. Nevertheless, materials previously published, in whole or in part, in another journal or in a book may not be submitted to Espirales. Monographs, dissertations, theses, texts published in annals of events or in non-scientific journals are not considered prior publication and are suitable for the Preprints Policy.

When submitting a manuscript in this modality, it is necessary to inform the origin of the preprint through the Open Science Compliance Form, as well as indicate compliance with the single-blind evaluation modality, since this type of material already has the authorship published before the peer evaluation. It is essential that at the moment of submission all the corresponding information is informed, otherwise the manuscript will be rejected in the pre-assessment phase.

In addition, authorship must ensure that the preprint complies with the editorial policies of this journal and that the manuscript is not being evaluated or has been accepted for publication in another scientific journal at the time of submission.
