Comunidades Epistémicas - Interviews
The Interview Section of the Espirales Journal, entitled Comunidades Epistémicas, uses the new languages and information technologies to promote the circulation of thought that can subsidize the processes of Latin American and Caribbean integration. The concept of “epistemic community” adopted is referenced in the constructivist approach to International Relations, involving the performance of various actors in the academic, governmental and non-governmental spheres — such as intellectuals, technocrats, social leaders, politicians, diplomats, journalists, researchers and specialists in regional integration — engaged in “dialogues of knowledge” with the potential to influence the formulation of international policies on Latin American regionalism, both at the domestic and regional levels.
Considering the aforementioned context, it is indispensable to strengthen the Epistemic Communities that are emerging in peripheral countries. UNILA, PPGICAL and, in this specific case, the “Comunidades Epistémicas” section of Espirales Journal meet the necessary conditions to contribute, through the interviews, to the agenda of debates on Latin American and Caribbean integration. The objective is to expand the circulation of voices that have a fundamental and strategic role in the construction of critical thinking and social struggles in the region.
Recent interviews will be prioritized, but older interviews will also be accepted, as long as the author consults the Editorial Team of the journal in advance through the email revista.espirales@unila.edu.br.
The objectives of the Comunidades Epistémicas section are:
- Giving visibility to critical perspectives on integration: Publishing interviews that explore different dimensions of Latin American and Caribbean integration, considering their potential, challenges and contradictions.
- Expanding the dialogue between academia, social movements and/or cultural practices: Highlighting voices that contribute to critical thinking and transformative action in the region, connecting academic, popular and/or ancestral knowledge.
- Registering and disseminating the thought of key figures in Latin America and the Caribbean: Providing interviews with intellectuals, leaders and artists whose reflections and trajectories have an impact on the field of regional integration and South-South dialogues.
- Valuing the continent's epistemic, ontological, and political diversity: Publishing interviews that express different forms of knowledge, encompassing indigenous, Afro-Diasporic, feminist, community, and other counter-hegemonic perspectives.
- Building a living archive of memory and critical thinking: Encouraging the preservation of reports, reflections and analyses that contribute to current and future debates on Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Contributing to the indexing and academic visibility of interviews: Publishing interviews with title, abstract and keywords in Portuguese, Spanish, English and French, ensuring DOI and indexing of manuscripts on academic platforms and knowledge circulation networks.
The Comunidades Epistémicas section invites researchers, students, activists, authorities, journalists and other interested parties to submit interviews that strengthen the debate on regional integration, contributing to the construction of critical, plural and committed thinking for social transformation. Manuscripts must comply with the Guidelines for Authors and the interview template.
